The minimum requirements for lateral transfer to the programs at University of Turkish Aeronautical Association are stated below:
  • The undergraduate program which the student attends should be equivalent to the program of UTAA that s/he applies for.
  • The candidate should still be a student of a higher education institution that is appropriate according to YOK. It is not an obstacle to freeze registration or be granted leave of absence in order to be able to apply for the transfer.
  • Before the beginning of the term that the candidate wants to apply, s/he has to have attended the school for at least 2 semesters and at most 5 semesters for  the undergraduate program and at least 1 semester and at most 2 semesters for the associate degree program (except for prep. year and summer school).
  • The GPA of the candidate should be at least 60 out of 100, and 2.00 out of 4.00. If the number of the students meeting these conditions is not equal to the quota, there will be extra seats for other students not meeting the stated GPA requirements. In this case, their university entrance exam scores will be taken into consideration, and those holding a score equal to or above the minimum score asked for that department at that same year they took the university entrance exam will be evaluated.
  • If candidates are having open education or distant education, their GPA should be at least 80 out of 100, or 3.00 out of 4.00 or their university entrance exam grades should be satisfactory according to the base scores of the program at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association that year.
  • The students who want to transfer to departments that are partially or fully taught in a foreign language must succeed in the Proficiency Exam that is given by the Department of Foreign Languages or provide a certificate proving adequate success in an internationally valid language examination.

The Application Form of Lateral Transfer 

Lateral Transfer from Abroad:

The minimum requirements for lateral transfer to the programs at University of Turkish Aeronautical Association from abroad are stated below:

  • The institution or program that the candidate attends abroad should be accepted and acknowledged as an authorized institution by the Council of Higher Education (YOK).
  • The undergraduate program the candidate attended abroad should be accepted by the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, as equivalent to the program that the student wants to apply.
  • The candidate should still be a registered student in a higher education institution abroad. It is not an obstacle to freeze registration or be granted a leave of absence in order to be able to apply for the transfer as long as it is not more than one year.
  • Before the beginning of the term that the candidate wants to apply, s/he has to have attended the school at least 2 semesters and at most 5 semesters for  the undergraduate program and at least 1 semester and at most 2 semesters for the associate degree program (except for prep. year and summer school)
  • Candidates having the grade for the university entrance exam (that takes place in Turkey) can apply for the lateral transfer and do not need to have succeeded in the all of the courses that they have taken. This kind of application is evaluated and determined by the University’s Academic Senate as part of the determined rules but not according to the scope of lateral transfers from abroad.
  • Students who are accepted to universities abroad and in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) through the results of an aptitude test (instead of university entrance exam) cannot transfer to any undergraduate programs at UTAA.
  • The GPA of the candidate should be at least 60 out of 100 and 2.00 out of 4.00.
  • The students who want to transfer to departments that are partially or fully taught in a foreign language must succeed in the Proficiency Exam that is given by the Department of Foreign Languages or provide a certificate proving adequate success in an internationally valid language examination.
Required Documents for Application
  • An application form with a photo.
  • A copy of an Identity Card
  • A certificate of currently enrolled students (from within the last three months).
  • A document that shows that s/he does not have disciplinary reprimands.
  • The document that shows the student’s central placement score and indicates the year that s/he entered university.
  • Transcripts showing the courses, scores and GPA from the previously attended institution of higher education.
  • The document showing the content of courses and curriculum belonging to the degree program.
  • A copy of a high school diploma. In addition, for the applicants who graduated from high schools abroad, notarized Turkish translations of their high school diplomas and high school diploma equivalency documents from the Provincial Directorate of National Education are necessary.
  • A document that indicates the English language proficiency of the student
  • A document that shows Turkish language proficiency (for foreign students who were initially accepted to our university to study in an English program and wish to transfer to a Turkish program within the University of the Turkish Aeronautical Association.)
  • For applicants who apply for transfer from abroad – a photocopy of their passport pages containing their photo and identification information.
  • An official document indicating that they are applying for transfer from institutions abroad due to the fact that his/her parent is returning home from international work or their mission is ending abroad, if applicable.
  • The bank receipt indicating that the tuition fee is paid.

The Application Form of Transfer from Abroad

In-house Transfer:

Students are allowed to transfer from their programs to other departments/programs that are in the same level of their own departments in terms of the framework “The Regulation of Transfer between Programs of Associate Degree and Bachelor’s degree in Higher Education concerning the Transfer of Credit with Double Major, Minor” set by the Academic Senate.
Applications are evaluated by committees in terms of the determined quotas and students who will be able to transfer to other departments / programs will be determined by taking into account their previous courses.

Requirements of Application

  • The student must be currently enrolled in a degree program at the University of the Turkish Aeronautical Association. A frozen registration or being on leave is not an obstacle in order to apply for a transfer.
  • Until the beginning of the period that a student wants to transfer, s/he must have been enrolled in the undergraduate program for at least one semester and up to four semesters, or one semester of an associate degree program excluding preparatory and summer school periods.
  • In order to apply for the degree programs that accept students at the same level but with different credits, the central placement score the student receives for the degree program at the University of the Turkish Aeronautical Association should be equal to the lowest base score or should be higher than this score and also should be equivalent to other degree programs that students want to transfer to in Turkey.
  • Students who study in the Flight Training Department of the Faculty of Air Transportation at the University of theTurkish Aeronautical Association can have an in-house transfer to another undergraduate program inside the University, but the students who studied in other undergraduate programs cannot have an in-house transfer to the Flight Training Department in the Faculty of Air Transportation.
  • In order to transfer to the degree programs that accept students with an aptitude test, it is necessary for students to be successful in the aptitude test in addition to success in other conditions.
  • If students wish to transfer from a program conducted in Turkish to a program that is conducted in English, they will have to provide proof of English proficiency through the results of either international or national tests that are recognized as equivalent by the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of the Turkish Aeronautical Association or they have to be successful in the proficiency exam given by the Department of Foreign Languages.
  • Additional conditions for transfer may be required upon the recommendation of the relevant faculty / vocational schools with the decision of the Academic Senate.
Evaluation
  • Students admitted to the university within the scholarship quota will forfeit their scholarships if they transfer to another department/program. Those receiving the other scholarships and discounts that are stated in “The University of the Turkish Aeronautical Association Scholarship Guidelines” will go on benefiting from these in the programs they transfer to.
  • Students will pay the tuition fee for the program that they transfer to.
  • While evaluating the applications for transfer between departments/programs, the GPAs of the students are taken into consideration first. If they are equal, the students who never failed a course or who have failed fewer courses will be given priority. If they are also the same, the students with the higher OSYS points will be given priority.
